Main invention:

  • new synthesis methods of phosphorus-nitrogen inorganic compounds and practical application of these compounds
  • new synthesis methods of different ultra fine powders of high temperature compounds on the basis of plasma technology
  • application of the manufactured ultra fine powders:

- in the production of metal-cutting instruments ;
- for the modification of structure and properties of metals and alloys (aluminium, crude iron, steel, nickel) ;
- in the production of high quality materials and composites for the need of aviation, space technics, engineering etc. .

About the inventions

Main idea of inventions:

The aim of the inventions is to obtain compounds of certain chemical composition with specific properties, to find new technological and effective application of these compounds or to create new high quality materials (also for usage in extreme conditions) on their basis by making use of novel and original synthesis methods.

Implementation:

In 1976 a Special Design Office with approximately 200 employees was formed at the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry of the Latvian Academy of Sciences for the production of different compounds with the novel methods. In the period of 16 years 22 technological inventions were introduced in the experimental production. The synthesized compounds on their turn were used (frequently in co-operation with specialists from other organizations) for the development of new materials and they were delivered to different plants for the provision of new technological processes of for the production of materials
